• OFEN Rehearsal Directors Group

We’re starting a support circle specifically for rehearsal directors, after recognising that this role often comes with unique challenges and obstacles that aren’t always acknowledged. Most RD’s work alone and are under a lot of pressure to play many roles for many people.

Our aim is to create a group that offers you a sense of community, solidarity, and support, with potentially some inspiration also, while looking after your mental wellbeing.

These meetings will be held over Zoom once a month on a weeknight.

NOTE: To honour the time and care that goes into facilitating this group, we’ll use a pay-what-you-can model. We understand that some rehearsal directors work full-time while others freelance or juggle multiple roles, and we want to keep the space as accessible as possible while moving away from unpaid labour.

More info to come, but sign up to the newsletter below for updates!

About OFEN Co-Arts

Founded in 2012 by dancers Gala Moody and Michael Carter, OFEN Co‑Arts began as a dance company (then Cie. OFEN) dedicated to exploring ethical working conditions within creative processes. Over time, our practice evolved from presenting performance to becoming a platform for advocacy, education, and partnership.

At our core, we investigate the contexts that shape dance—including hierarchical structures, inequitable labor practices, and wider cultural norms . Through this lens, our mission is simple yet radical: to empower practitioners to work in safer, more sustainable, and more ethical ways.

OFEN Co‑Arts is is anchored in lived experience — for those who want to reshape conditions, honor their wellbeing, and speak boldly in service of art and community.
